Welcome to this resource. We hope you find it useful in making the most of that part of your Cert Ed/PGCE that involves observation. Mostly it is concerned with observation of you as a trainee teacher, but a section also seeks to develop your opportunities for observing teaching and teachers and your ability to learn from that process.
"Observing others and yourself" is designed to help you in being observed by giving you the experience of observing the process of teaching.
The resource is one of several on-line packages that are available to Cert. Ed. and PGCE students on the University of Huddersfield Post-Compulsory Education and Training courses. The Consortium for PCET operates in thirty member organisations and the purpose of these packages is to ensure that all course members have the same support, advice and guidance throughout the Consortium.
The package is designed to support you in the essential process of the observation of your practice as a teacher / trainer. Each section deals with different aspects of the observation process, from preparation for it to reflection on its value. There are video clips for you to watch and reflect on and frequently asked questions (FAQs) that address some of the most common issues that are raised in the observation of teaching.
Links have been provided to help you navigate the package.
If, once you have used it, you have any suggestions for improvements or you wish to contribute directly to it, please contact Keith Webb.
