Liverpool Community College
About Us
Liverpool Community College is a large general further education (FE) college with provision on six sites in and around Liverpool city centre. The college is the only FE college in Liverpool and serves a population of approximately 439,500 people.
The Teacher Education programme offers a range of initial teacher training (ITT) provision, including the Certificate of Education, CGLI 7407, CGLI 7302, CGLI 9295, CELTA and Level 4 subject-specification qualifications for literacy and numeracy teachers. These programmes are delivered to over 350 trainee and experienced teachers annually. Students are drawn from a wide range of organisations, including FE institutions, community education, adult education, training organisations, public bodies, community projects and the Deaf Centre.
We are also involved in the delivery of ITT to community organisations and marginalised groups as positive action initiatives. The ITT tutors deliver across a range of modes of delivery, including traditional training, National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) work-based learning (WBL) and e-learning.
"We set out to investigate, plan and evaluate an ITT mentoring system that could cover a range of programmes and be flexible enough to cater for the specific needs of a variety of organisations."
