Bradford College
About Us
Bradford College is a ‘mixed economy’ further education (FE) college providing a wide portfolio of FE and higher education (HE) courses. There are some 4,000 HE students studying on approximately 170 full-time and part-time HE courses, and we are proud to be the largest provider of HE in the UK outside the university sector. Approximately one-third of our provision is HE and two-thirds FE. There is a dynamic between the two sectors which is reflected in the culture of the institution and its approach to serving its communities and students.
The Post-Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) programmes, which have provided the focus for the project, offer a suite of courses which provide in-service training for staff teaching on FE, adult education or HE courses. Our courses include provision for both undergraduate and postgraduate awards through HE certificates, and postgraduate diplomas and studies can be pursued through to Master’s level.
"In our project we listened to the student voice in order to critically appraise the structures and processes that course staff and mentors used in the observation of classroom practice. The findings were used to develop strategies to create a coherent approach across observation and mentoring processes for the developmental aspect of the course for individual students, as well as for the assessment structures."
